Sierra Leone
dunrau — Fri, 06/26/2009 - 20:19
This weekend we'll be taking exploring the movie "Blood Diamond" as part of our weekly service. "Blood Diamond" takes place in Sierra Leone, a place where our denomination is currently very active. This video shares the story of a group of local Christian Reformed Church members who went to Sierra Leone to explore "interdependence" with the Christian Reformed Church there.
Synod 2009

This year portions of Synod (or "the Big Show" of denominational meetings in the Christian Reformed Church) are being posted on the web. This video is about the future of the Christian Reformed Church. It's a little dry but gives a good picture of the issues facing our denomination. Yes, I even watched the whole thing!

This past Easter a team of youth from our church did the drama "Please" as part of our weekend services. It's been up on facebook for a bit, but now I've figured out how to share with everyone so enjoy!
A Note From Trevor

This past weekend a group of youth from our church and from Kelowna Christians Reformed Church when to YC (Youth Convention) in Edmonton. Here's a little note about the event from our youth pastor, Trevor Cairns:
...the highlight of the entire season was our trip to Edmonton on May 21-25. We spent our first day at West Edmonton Mall, and then spent the rest of the trip at the Youth Convention. It was an event that saw over 16,000 teenagers in attendance. The speakers were amazing, and so was the worship. It was an excellent experience! Our students worked hard to raise money for this event through various fundraisers. Many of you were part of one of them - our formal dinner, which really helped our students a lot to raise the necessary funds. On behalf of the 41 of us that attended, we want to say a huge THANK-YOU for your generosity. We hope that EHY was in-turn able to provide a venue for our church community to enjoy each other & fellowship.
Thanks for supporting the students of East Hill Youth. Many of our students do not attend our church and so they will never likely thank you for your prayers, financial, and volunteer support. On behalf of them and all our teenagers – THANK-YOU and may God bless you as continue to support the efforts of EHY.
Sincerely,Trevor Cairns
